Maths Problem Solving

Today for Maths we had a problem from nrich maths to solve, about eggs in a basket.
Here is the way that Chelsea and Peytin worked it out, using cushions, pens, and blocks.

Dragon Stories

We listened to the story Tell Me a Dragon by Jackie Morris, then we wrote and drew about our own dragons. Here are the dragons that Lorelei and Finn wrote about and drew.

We've been working out how to do our basic facts with 10 as the answer. Peytin and Chelsea worked out how to do them in order.

We have started writing dragon stories. Here are a few of the amazing sentences we wrote! 

"My dragon is a kitten dragon. It is very cute but deadly." Sam

"My dragon has lightning coming out of her mouth and her teeth are shinier than pearls. She camouflages in grey clouds and makes a big storm." Olivia

Today we looked at the eye colours of everyone in our class, and we made graphs.

The Big Black Whale

Today we had our first poem for the year. We looked at "The Big Black Whale" by the New Zealand poet James K Baxter. Here are two pictures about the poem drawn by Jacob and Olivia.
